After so many rumors, we finally have confirmation.
“That’s so true” is officially the only acceptable response to the rumors about musician Gracie Abrams and actor Paul Mescal. Two years in, they’re still going strong and becoming noticeably more public with their affection.
Before dating Abrams, Mescal was in a high-profile relationship with fellow musician Phoebe Bridgers. The two split in 2023, and she later began dating comedian Bo Burnham. February 22, 2026: Now this is what we call a red carpet debut. After testing the waters with a joint appearance earlier in the week, the pair ups the PDA at the 2026 BAFTA Awards.
Dressed in Prada, the pair share loving looks and even a peck on the cheek from Abrams to Mescal.
February 18, 2026: Abrams and Mescal technically made their red carpet debut at a London screening of Paul McCartney: Man on The Run, although it felt more like a low key test run than a full blown couple moment. Both Abrams and Mescal kept it casual, showing up in mismatched baseball caps and relaxed outfits as they smiled for the cameras.
February 2, 2026: To celebrate the Irish actor’s 30th birthday, Abrams posted a major dump of intimate photos on Instagram, writing, “My whole heart!!!!!!!!! I love February 2… Happy birthday❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love you both more than words could ever describe. Thank you for making everything better,” noting that a friend of hers shares the birthday too.
The first slide shows Mescal and Abrams kissing in a photo booth, followed by snaps of him staring at her lovingly at dinner, resting his head in her lap, kissing her during a rehearsal, and other tender, intimate moments.
September 2025: Mescal landed on the cover of Rolling Stone, and when the interviewer asked why the couple chose to officially confirm their relationship, he kept it careful and protective. “I don’t know how to answer that…I actually do have an answer, but everything to do with that is deeply precious to me and I don’t want to…This isn’t…I don’t really…umm…I want to protect those things fundamentally,” he said.
June 2025: Abrams played to a massive Glastonbury crowd that included Mescal’s Normal People costar and close friend Daisy Edgar-Jones, along with her boyfriend, Ben Seed. Later that same weekend, Abrams posted a video to Instagram Stories of herself perched on Mescal’s shoulders while they listened to Olivia Rodrigo cover The Cure’s “Friday I’m in Love.”
April 2025: Sources said Abrams caught Mescal onstage in A Streetcar Named Desire, with one insider telling People, “Despite their busy schedules, the couple is making each other a priority.…There’s no denying the strong chemistry between Paul and Gracie, true lovebirds.”
